The Lakers received some slightly better news right before their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night. According to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, Nick Young is looking to make his return as early as next week.

Young has not played in a game since Feb. 23 against the Brooklyn Nets. He was coming off a knee injury he sustained in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Feb. 5, but was still feeling pain when he made his early return.

Throughout the season, Young has provided the Lakers with scoring off the bench and has been a reliable sixth man for the team. Young is second on the team, behind Pau Gasol, in points per game with an average of 16.9. The Lakers signed Young in the 2013 offseason for the veteran’s minimum.

With the end of the Lakers season nearing, Young will be hoping to not only help the Lakers down the stretch, but also possibly earn himself a bigger paycheck should he opt out of his contract.
