Lakers Injury Update: Pau Gasol Set To Miss A Week With Groin Injury

Pau Gasol

Injuries continue to rip the Los Angeles Lakers apart this season with the latest victim being four-time NBA All-Star Pau Gasol.

According to a Lakers press release, Gasol will miss at least a week before being re-evaluated next weekend meaning he’ll be out for the entire three-game road trip. Gasol underwent an MRI last night following the loss to the Charlotte Bobcats.

Veteran center Chris Kaman also underwent an MRI on Friday night to have a sore right knee checked out. Fortunately, Kaman’s MRI results came back negative and he’ll be able to shoulder the load for Gasol at center during the road trip next week.

Now that Gasol is on the shelf with the groin injury, the Lakers will have Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar and Xavier Henry out of commission. Nash and Blake may be able to get back on the floor on Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but their return is not set in stone.

Needless to say, this season continues to get worse with players getting injured on a nightly basis while the team struggles to compete against even the worst teams in the league.
