Lakers Nation Bids Farewell to Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol

With the news that the Lakers had acquired Chris Paul from the New Orleans Hornets today it was important to see what the team was being forced to give up in return.

In exchange for the superstar point guard the Lakers were forced to part with two crucial members of their back-to-back championship teams in 2009 and 2010.

Pau Gasol, who came to Los Angeles in another blockbuster trade in 2008, was instrumental in leading the Lakers to the NBA Finals three consecutive years, winning two championships with the squad.

Odom has been on the team longer than Gasol, arriving in 2004 as a part of the trade that sent Shaquille O’Neal to Miami.

Both Gasol and Odom were integral parts of the championship teams that the Lakers had at the end of the decade, and will always be remembered by Lakers fans everywhere.

So as we bid farewell to two great Lakers players we want to take a minute to thank them for their service to the Lakers and for leaving their mark on the greatest basketball team in the world.
