Since Lakers Nation is a site that is run by fans for fans we periodically like to find a member of Lakers Nation that truly represents what it means to be a Lakers’ fan. This week we’re proud to announce that that fan is Blake Gockley. Here’s some more information on our Lakers Nation Citizen of the Week!
The Year You Became a Lakers Fan? In 1990 when I was five years old.
What was the Biggest Reason you became a Lakers Fan? The one and only #32 (Magic Johnson, obviously).
What’s your Favorite Piece of Lakers Gear? All my Lakers shirts, especially my Lakers Nation shirt.
What’s your Lucky Charm to help the Lakers Win Big Games? Just yelling and being loud.
Who’s your All-Time Favorite Laker? Magic Johnson.
Who’s your pick for “Worst” Lakers of All Time? Worst would be Gary Payton. Sorry, Gary.
What has been your Favorite Lakers Memory? The epic playoff battles between the Kings and the Spurs.
Here’s a little more information about Blake, in his own words:
Well I live in Nebraska, and I knew going to the game there was going to be a lot of Lakers fans. We went to the bar outside of the Pepsi Center (Denver, Colorado) and 8/10 peopling going into the bar were Lakers fans wearing Lakers gear. We sat 3 rows up from the court by the Lakers tunnel. My Lakers Nation sign made espn at the end of the game after Kobe was leaving the court after his interview. It’s the greatest feeling in the world seeing the people you have watched since age 5. I am trying to find a date to go to Staples Center, as I have only been outside of it. I want to feel the atmosphere of the home crowd even though the fans at the Nuggets game could be heard over the Nuggets fans. There were Lakers fans of all ages at the game. A fan who sat behind me and my girlfriend was 75 years old and she kept screaming ‘Black MAMBA! Oh my gosh it’s the Black Mamba!’
