The Los Angeles Lakers introduced their new head coach Luke Walton at their practice facility on Tuesday afternoon, ushering in a new era of Lakers basketball. Lakers Nation had a chance to go one-on-one with the former Laker champion, chatting about what led to Walton’s quick success after just two years as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors under Steve Kerr.

Walton also discusses his excitement to coach D’Angelo Russell in his second season, and his reaction last season when the Lakers drafted him with their No. 2 pick in the NBA draft. With free agency looming and the Lakers actively searching, Walton talks about the current pulse around the league about the Lakers being a free agent destination.
