Lakers Nation Kicks Of The Week: Nike Zoom Kobe Prelude 1

Nike Zoom Kobe 1-81 Points
The Nike Kobe 9 is one of the most anticipated shoes of the year and leading up to it, Nike has released the Kobe Prelude Pack. Nike is releasing the the Kobe 1 through 8 and each are special edition color-ways.

This week, we have chosen the Nike Zoom Kobe Prelude 1 as our Lakers Nation Kicks of the Week to celebrate Kobe Bryant’s 81 point performance on January 22, 2006. Bryant wore a version of the Kobe 1 that was not available to the public. White was the primary color on the shoe, but it was surrounded by purple and black. Nike would later release the color-way of the 81 point night.

Ultimate Kobe Bryant Quiz: Take the Challenge!

The Nike Zoom Kobe 1 is a historic shoe and not only because of the 81 point night. In the 2005-06 season, Bryant was dominating offensively and he simply could not be stopped. The Kobe 1 is considered a heavier shoe with a lot of cushion, but that did not slow down Bryant. That season, he had six games in which he scored 50 or more points and 21 games where he scored 40 or more points. In the month of January alone, he averaged 43.4 point per game and in April, he averaged 41.6 points per game while shooting nearly 51 percent.

Although the Kobe Prelude 1 are sold out, their recent release makes them much easier to get. They retailed for $200 dollars, but if you really want a part of history, you might have to pay above market value. The Kobe Prelude 1 is mainly black and it has multi-colored designs and a crystallized outsole. This is definitely one of the best kicks of 2014.
