The Los Angeles Lakers have yet to agree to a contract with any player in free agency so far, but they may be close. The Lakers have been in contact with players like Rajon Rondo and Dion Waiters, but the most intriguing name to pop up recently is Utah Jazz point guard George Hill.
Hill and the Lakers have met and there is interest in a one-year contract which would make sense for both sides.
For the Lakers, Hill would provide a veteran in the backcourt who could play next to Lonzo Ball, be a defender and shooter, and won’t cut into their 2018 cap space. Hill, meanwhile, would get a nice payday and a big stage to perform on, and the chance to get back into free agency in a year to obtain a long-term contract.
The Lakers are being very selective about who they bring potentiall bring in this summer in free agency. Hill wasn’t someone who was mentioned as a possibility, but he could provide the best return, even on a one-year deal.
