The Los Angeles Lakers won their fourth straight game, in dramatic fashion, on Sunday night. D’Angelo Russell, who was playing after his grandmother had passed away, hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Lakers over the Timberwolves. The victory ensured that the Lakers cannot pass the Suns for the second-worst record in the NBA.
The Lakers, who currently have a 46.9 percent chance at a top 3 pick, can only improve their chances if they were to lose their final two games and the Suns win their final game. The two teams would then end with the same record and split the odds of keeping a Top-3 pick.
While the Lakers end of season run may end up costing them the pick, it has been great to see the youth make strides. The Lakers are openly tanking, and yet have still found a way to win four games in a row. At this point, all we can do is pray the basketball gods reward the players for not tanking.
