warriors-lakers-basketballThe Lakers 91-79 defeat took a backseat after the game yesterday afternoon as most of the questions to head coach Mike D’Antoni were in regards to Kobe Bryant’s tweets.

Bryant isn’t allowed to travel with the team until the swelling goes down after his achillies surgery as he’s taken to Twitter to tweetcast during games.

After being called a “fan” by D’Antoni, Bryant didn’t know whether or not he should tweet for Game 2 since many believe he’s become a distraction.

We asked Lakers Nation whether or not Kobe should tweet and the response wasn’t surprising:

In our poll, 85 percent believe that Bryant should tweet during the games and that he isn’t a distraction to the team.

However, Bryant himself tweeted that he wouldn’t tweet for Game 2:

After his Achillies injury, the Lakers are 2-1 without Bryant after key wins against the Spurs and Rockets to end the regular season.

Kobe tweeted during those games and mentioned that he’s texted with forward Pau Gasol during halftime of the past games. Nicknamed “Coach Kobe”, Bryant didn’t hold back in criticizing the Lakers defense and their inability to get the ball in the post to Gasol and Dwight Howard.

It’s not surprise that Lakers fans want Kobe to tweet as his emotion and insight into the game as he engages with his fans excites everyone.

It’s understandable why D’Antoni would roll his eyes at Bryant’s tweet, but he’s earned the right after his 17-year career to tweet his opinions without them becoming a national story.

Whether or not Kobe sticks to his no tweeting policy during Game 2 remains to be seen, but Lakers fans will be the ones missing out on engagement with their favorite player.
