After not making the playoffs in his first year without Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant returned with a vengeance in the 2005-2006 season. While the Lakers didn’t exactly have the greatest roster, Bryant averaged 35.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists as he led them into the playoffs.
While many thought Kobe deserved to win his first Most Valuable Player award, Steve Nash eventually received that individual accolade. In the first round of the 2006 NBA Playoffs, Bryant let everyone know how he felt about that with an emphatic dunk on Nash to help seal Game 2 for the Lakers.
