Lakers Nation Week In Review: Jan. 5 – Jan. 12

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at San Antonio SpursNothing is going right for the Los Angeles Lakers as the team is winless in 2013 and is currently riding a five-game losing streak. There are already talks about the Lakers missing the postseason and there is a good chance that the team ends up watching the playoffs from home.

The Lakers are also dealing with several injuries, particularly to their front-court. Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol and Jordan Hill have all been sidelined due to injuries and their absence led the Lakers to an 0-4 week.

Lakers Nation Game Recaps:

The Lakers began the week at Staples Center for a game against the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers and Nuggets played a very intriguing match and Los Angeles had an opportunity to win the game in the final minutes. However, all the lucky bounces fell the Nuggets’ way and the Lakers’ poor defense certainly did not help them on this night.

Los Angeles played the first game of their Texas trip in Houston against the Rockets. The Lakers got off to an amazing start, but they could not sustain that high level of play. The Rockets eventually took control of the game with their explosiveness and ran the Lakers out the gym, 125-112.

The Lakers paid a visit to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night for a match that was closer than most had expected. Los Angeles put together a great fourth quarter comeback, but the surge fell short in the final seconds. Earl Clark had a breakout performance, but the Lakers lost 108-105.

Los Angeles finished the week with a game at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder completely embarrassed the Lakers in front of the Staples Center crowd and handed them their sixth consecutive loss.
