Lakers Nation Week In Review: Oct.13 – Oct. 20

Believe it or not, the NBA season is about to tip-off in less than two weeks. The Los Angeles Lakers are preparing for an exciting season and everyone in the franchise is looking forward to a championship effort. The Lakers will have title aspirations from the first game and the players will do what it takes to raise banner number 17.

The pre-season is about to wrap up and even though the Lakers are 0-5, there really isn’t much concern. Exhibition games do not mean much for the Lakers and Dwight Howard has yet to hit the court.

The regular season is right around the corner and things are getting very hectic for the team. The past seven days have been news filled and here is a week in review.

Pre-Season Post Game Reports:

The Los Angeles Lakers played the Utah Jazz for two consecutive games, and unfortunately, Los Angeles lost both meetings. In the first match-up, the Lakers played well but could not overcome the Jazz in the fourth quarter. Los Angeles’ stars had a nice showing in that game and in particular, Kobe Bryant and Metta World Peace. However, on this night is was the young Jazz team that stole the spotlight and took a 99-86 win.

In the second meeting with the Jazz, the Lakers got beaten by a much larger margin and the team looked lethargic. Even though Pau Gasol did not play, the 114-80 beating was definitely surprising. However, the main storyline in this game was Kobe Bryant’s scoring assault in the third quarter. Bryant scored 23 of the Lakers’ 24 points in the third quarter and had the entire crowd on its feet.

The Lakers played their fifth pre-season game in Las Vegas, but luck was once again not on their side. Los Angeles squared off with the Sacramento Kings and it were the Lakers’ turnovers that allowed the Kings to win the game. Kobe Bryant and Devin Ebanks played well, but as the final buzzer rang, the Kings walked away with a 103-98 victory.
