Lakers Nation Wishes Happy Birthday to Kobe Bryant

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is celebrating his 34th birthday today, and we would like to take a few minutes to wish the Black Mamba a very happy birthday.

It’s been a busy year for Bryant, who saw his Lakers fall short of the NBA Finals once again. However, Bryant did add another Gold medal to the trophy case after a victory in the London Olympics as a member of Team USA. It was the second Gold medal of Bryant’s career, and could be a precursor for more success. When Bryant won the Gold medal back in 2008 it was followed by consecutive NBA championships in ’09 and ’10.

Bryant is entering his 17th NBA season, and will be looking to add another NBA title to his collection. After the team acquired Dwight Howard and Steve Nash this off-season, that seems like a likely possibility for Bryant.

Over the course of his career Bryant has set many Laker records. He’s currently the all-time leading scorer in Lakers history, and is tied with Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (amongst others) with five championships as a member of the Lakers.

So, here’s a very special happy birthday to Bryant, who is most likely spending his special day shooting jumpers somewhere.
