Lakers News And Rumors Recap: Injuries Piling Up For L.A.
Nick Young Believes He Will Thrive In Luke Walton’s System, Environment

When Nick Young couldn’t put pressure on his leg and had to be carried off the floor, many feared the veteran guard had suffered a season-ending injury. Several reporters and fans alike thought Young had severely injured his Achilles. Our own Serena Winters said the injury reminded her of the one Kobe Bryant suffered in 2013.

Luckily, Young avoided an Achilles injury altogether. Instead, Young will be sidelined for the next 2-4 weeks with a strained calf muscle. The injury comes at a terrible time as Young was in the midst of a turnaround year under new coach Luke Walton.

The Lakers are now without their starting backcourt as D’Angelo Russell is still sidelined with a knee injury. Russell is scheduled to meet with team doctors on Monday and could return soon. For now, the Lakers will have to get creative with their lineups until Russell or Young can return.
