Tuesday marked the second day of a four-day break in the schedule without a game for the Los Angeles Lakers, but that certainly didn’t mean there was a lack of news to report on. Via Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding, who stated according to team sources, Kobe Bryant is expected to be shut down for the remainder of the season.

The news doesn’t come as much of a surprise as Bryant is still suffering effects from the fracture in his left knee and recently spoke of his frustration with what has been a slow recovery process. With a two-year, $48.5 million contract forthcoming, Bryant now heads into the summer surrounded by more uncertainty and questions regarding what he can still offer on the court.
This comes during a time when the Lakers could certainly benefit from something tangible to be positive about moving forward. Assuming Bryant plays in the 2014-2015 season, the roster he will return to next season will likely be drastically different than the one he last played with in December.
