After a 9-9 start that nobody predicted, the Los Angeles Lakers find themselves in the thick of the playoff hunt. Unfortunately, the team is currently without its top two players in Julius Randle and D’Angelo Russell and is facing its hardest stretch of games thus far.
The Lakers are 2-4 in their last six games, which coincides with both Russell’s and Randle’s injuries. With the Lakers heading out on a tough four-game road trip that includes four games in five nights, head coach Luke Walton is hopeful that Randle will be able to rejoin the team sometime during the trip.
The Lakers have clearly missed Randle’s all around playmaking ability and overall energy on both sides of the ball. Randle hasn’t committed to coming back on the road trip, saying he doesn’t want to risk the injury getting worse but is listed as questionable for Tuesday’s matchup against the Pelicans. Walton went with Thomas Robinson at the four against the Hawks and could follow with the same lineup against the Pelicans.
