Los Angeles Lakers rookie Brandon Ingram will play tonight after being considered questionable, according to the Lakers Twitter account:

The Los Angeles Lakers had another injury scare on Saturday night with rookie Brandon Ingram tweaking his left ankle in the win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

On Sunday, the Lakers will get right back to work with the team playing the final game of their three-game road trip against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Ingram’s status for the game is considered questionable, according to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News:

Ingram sprained his left ankle in the second half of Saturday’s game against the Pelicans. The rookie downplayed the injury by claiming it wasn’t serious and that he should be able to play the second game of the back-to-back on Sunday.

The Duke product may have ultimately returned to the game after getting checked out, but the Lakers were cruising to a victory in the fourth quarter and risking further injury in a blowout doesn’t make much sense.

Before going down with the ankle tweak, Ingram had played 22 minutes. The Lakers rookie scored 10 points, dished out four assists and stole the ball once before his night came to an end.

Veteran Luol Deng could see extended minutes at small forward if Ingram is unable to play or limited due to the ankle issue. Nick Young may also slide over to the three spot on Sunday if need be.

As for the team, the Lakers will be going for their third straight win on Sunday while trying to take advantage a Timberwolves squad that has struggled this season winning only two of the eight games they’ve played thus far.

Sunday’s game will be the last of a three-game road trip with the Lakers set to return to the Staples Center on Tuesday to face the Brooklyn Nets.
