Lakers News: Byron Scott Anticipates Making Another Lineup Change

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott has been tinkering with the team’s starting lineup all season long. Injuries to Julius Randle, Steve Nash, Xavier Henry, Ryan Kelly, Nick Young and Kobe Bryant haven’t made things easy on Scott this season, but he continues to roll with the punches in yet another disappointing season for the storied franchise.

Following practice on Wednesday, Scott told the media he plans on shaking things up once again, according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Currently, Scott has rookie Jordan Clarkson running the point in the starting lineup ahead of Ronnie Price and Jeremy Lin. A bold move considering the talent level at the point guard position in the Western Conference, but it seems to be the right move to help his development.

Wayne Ellington has been shouldering the load at shooting guard with Kobe done for the season after shoulder surgery. Ellington continues to impress in his expanded role as one of the better scorers on the team alongside Clarkson in the backcourt.

Both Ellington and Clarkson might maintain their roles as starters unless moves are made at the NBA trade deadline. The potential acquisition of Goran Dragic or possibly Isaiah Thomas would certainly change the depth chart.

Lin might also get some consideration to reclaim his role as a starter, but the veteran doesn’t seem to be on the same page as Coach Scott.

As for the frontcourt, Jordan Hill has maintained his starting position all season long and is having a career year in the process. Scott has been trying out multiple players at power forward with Ed Davis, Tarik Black and Carlos Boozer getting time at the position.
