The last two seasons have been filled with injuries for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The team has continually been decimated as each of their important players including Kobe Bryant and Julius Randle went down for significant chunks of time.

Coming into this season the Lakers are hoping that won’t be the case, but prized rookie D’Angelo Russell has suffered a bone bruise in his foot according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell:

However, it sounds as if the injury isn’t serious as Russell isn’t concerned via Trudell:

This looks as if it is not serious and hopefully that turns out to be the case as the Lakers can ill afford to have any significant losses if they plan on having any semblance of a playoff run this season. The fact that it is Russell who suffered the first injury of camp, albeit minor, is sure to bring fans back to the tragedy of Julius Randle’s broken fibula on opening night.

The Lakers are beginning to look towards the future with Russell, Randle, and Jordan Clarkson leading the way. Randle lost out on precious development time last season and the Lakers have to hope the same won’t happen to Russell.
