After the news broke on Monday that the Lakers would be without Dwight Howard (and basically every other big man on the roster) for the foreseeable future, the Lakers’ chances of reaching the postseason seemed to go from slight to nonexistent.
Howard, who suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder, is out at least a week, but a more realistic expectation might be 4-6 weeks. However, at the Lakers practice facility on Monday he was quite adamant that the injury will not require surgery.
“I don’t need surgery,” Howard said. And, in case you didn’t believe him, he reiterated this once more with a much more stern tone of voice.
Howard, who was wearing a heavy-duty bandage while talking to reporters, has seemed frustrated lately when talking to the media. The recent injury news certainly won’t help matters much.
