Lakers News: Ed Davis Suffers Broken Nose In Win Over Nuggets

After sitting out three games to rest, Kobe Bryant recorded a triple-double during the Los Angeles Lakers 111-103 win over the Denver Nuggets. While the victory snapped a losing streak, not all went the Lakers’ way as the team nearly let the Nuggets steal the game.

Ed Davis was fouled late in the fourth quarter by Nate Robinson who was ejected after picking his second technical foul protesting the call. According to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times, the foul also resulted in Davis’ nose being broken:

Before the incident, Davis was having a quiet night with four points and four rebounds. Davis added in three more points to finish the night with seven.

Davis’ last points came off a nice feed from Bryant who collected 11 assists against the Nuggets. The basket all but sealed the Laker victory as it gave the Lakers a double digit lead with less than minute remaining.

The Lakers’ next game is Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies, and Davis believes he’ll be good enough to play. He will be seeing a doctor Wednesday back in Los Angeles to determine the severity.

It is possible Davis will be playing with a mask on Friday. Davis had been in the starting lineup for the last month, and the Lakers have improved with the change. Before his insertion, the Lakers only managed three wins, but have gotten seven since.

Davis has been a bright spot for the Lakers all season and has a player option once the season ends.
