Lin was hoping for a bigger role with the Lakers and appears to be setup to get just that in Los Angeles. One thing that Lin is looking forward to heading into his first season with the Lakers is learning from Nash. Lin said the following during his introductory press conference on Wednesday via the Lakers Twitter account:

At this point in time, there’s been no indication who will be the starter next season with no head coach in place. The coaching search is ongoing with most believing that Byron Scott remains the frontrunner to land the job, but the team has been reluctant to hire the former Coach of the Year.

Moving forward, the consensus appears to be that Lin will be the starter with Nash likely set to come off the bench and rookie Jordan Clarkson being third on the depth chart. Lin has the perfect opportunity to make an impression if made the starter while playing alongside Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles.

As for Nash, the two-time NBA MVP will be entering potentially his final season in the NBA at 40-years-old. The veteran point guard will likely embrace the mentor role with the Lakers helping develop Clarkson and Lin.
