Injuries have been a persistent problem for the Los Angeles Lakers this season with players going down on a weekly basis for the storied franchise. Although players have gone down left and right, Jeremy Lin has been able to stay relatively healthy until recently.

Lin has been dealing with back issues as of late which have threatened to force him out of games. Fortunately, despite the back spasms, Lin will play through the pain on Sunday night against the visiting Philadelphia 76ers, according to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News:

Jeremy Lin will assume his backup point guard role when the Lakers (45-25) host the Philadelphia 76ers (17-52) on Sunday at Staples Center after nursing back spasms in recent days. But Lakers coach Byron Scott said Lin went through Sunday’s morning shootaround without any issues.

Only 15 games remain in the 2014-15 NBA season for the Lakers with the team already knocked out of playoff contention. Lin’s future with the team has been a topic of discussion as of late with no telling whether he’ll return next season.

Lin will become an unrestricted free agent this summer and hasn’t given any indication as to what his intentions may be. If head coach Byron Scott sticks to his plan, Lin will be back in the starting lineup for the final 10 games of the season with rookie Jordan Clarkson moving back to the bench.

With Coach Scott in evaluation mode, the final 10 games with Lin as the starting point guard might help determine whether the team wants to re-sign. It’ll be interesting to see if Lin ultimately becomes a part of the team’s long-term plans with the Lakers excited about Clarkson’s progress and talk of the storied franchise going after Rajon Rondo or Goran Dragic in free agency.
