Lakers News: Jordan Farmar Says Playing With Kobe Is ‘A Blessing’

jordan-farmar-kobe-bryant-2010-1-4-0-10-42Since the departure of an All-Star for the first time in Los Angeles this offseason, much of the discussion has been about Kobe Bryant’s reputation as a teammate. There has been negativity surrounding the demands Bryant puts on his teammates, and many believe it will hurt the Lakers next offseason when the franchise has ample cap room to recruit high profile free agents.

After spending three seasons away from the Lakers, Jordan Farmar returns to the team and in an interview with Bleacher Report’s Josh Martin, Farmar discussed his relationship with Bryant.

Contrary to popular belief, Farmar appreciates what Kobe provided him during his first stint in Los Angeles:

“He was very influential on me early in my career. To be around someone like that every day is really a blessing for someone like me.”

Although Bryant can be demanding, Farmar has learned so much about work ethic, determination and the will to win:

“More so his work ethic and just determination, will to win. I mean, his willpower is what separates him from the rest of the people in this business. You know, he’s very, very, very talented. His skill level’s incredible. But he just has the will to work to be the best.”

While there is no one who will ever match Kobe’s work ethic and determination, Farmar has put in the work and has earned the respect of Bryant. Kobe was actually the first person to welcome back Farmar as soon as he signed, and there is a special bond between the two players.

The return of Farmar was a surprise for most, but will be a welcomed addition. He has championship experience and is someone Bryant has gained trust in through all the battles in route to two consecutive championships.

During his first stint with the Lakers, Farmar averaged 6.9 points and 2.1 assists in limited minutes.
