Lakers News: Jordan Farmar ‘Still Has A Ways To Go’ To Return

Jordan FarmarThe backcourt for the Los Angeles Lakers suffered a major blow recently with Jordan Farmar going down with injury that will keep them out a considerable amount of time.

Fortunately, an injury update on Farmar’s torn hamstring was provided on Monday with the veteran point guard showing progress in his rehab according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com:

Jordan Farmar, who tore his left hamstring in the first quarter of a Dec. 1 loss to Portland, showed healing and improvement in the area in an additional ultrasound exam on Monday afternoon with Dr. Luga Podesta.

Despite the fact Farmar is showing improvement and will travel with the team during the upcoming road trip, the UCLA alum may still be out for a considerable amount of time before he’s able to start practicing once again:

Farmar “still has a ways to go” before he returns to practice or games, according to team spokesman John Black.

With Steve Nash still trying to get back on the floor after suffering another setback and Farmar potentially out for a few more weeks, the Lakers will continue to stick with Steve Blake as the starter. Kobe Bryant will help shoulder the load in the backcourt sharing some of the ball handling duties along with Blake, Nick Young and Xavier Henry.
