Farmar played an important role in the Lakers’ back-to-back title runs and was a fan favorite in the city. However, Farmar has spent the past couple of years overseas as his basketball journey took him to across the Atlantic. Even though the former UCLA Bruin made a nice living playing outside the United States, he always dreamt about coming back to Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Times writes that Farmar took a pay cut in order to play for the Lakers, and the point guard told the media during his press conference that he was willing to make a sacrifice in order to play in Los Angeles.
“I just really wanted to make a sacrifice to be here. Not everyone is able to call the Lakers up and they take you,” Farmar said. “I thought it was important to do my part to make that happen. If that was sacrificing some dollars today, it was worth it for me.”
Farmar will be joining Steve Nash and Steve Blake in the backcourt, which makes for a well experienced lineup for the coaching staff. As Farmar stated in his presser, he has grown a lot in his time overseas, and the Lakers are getting a poised and mature point guard.
