One of the punishments NBA commissioner Adam Silver levied on Donald Sterling was forcing him to sell the Clippers via a vote by the NBA owners.

On Thursday, the NBA Advisory Committee decided to move forward with the notion. While there are still obstacles before any sale can be made, there has been interest from a number of different parties.

Magic Johnson appears to be open towards the idea of owning the Clippers, and recently described owning the Clippers as the right situation. The thought of a Laker legend owning another franchise might anger some, but it seems another Laker legend is perfectly fine with it.

In an interview with ESPN 710’s Max and Marcellius, Kareem Abdul-Jabber shared his thoughts:

I dont have any problem with it. It doesn’t bother me.

Jabbar was one of the former Lakers to have a strong reaction towards Sterling’s recording. Obviously, Jabbar found the statements offensive but was also angered by Sterling’s past discriminatory actions not getting the attention that the TMZ recording has received.

During Tuesday’s press conference, Silver indicated Sterling’s past offences held no weight in his decision to punish Sterling severely this time around. The NBA Advisory Committee will meet again next week, but Sterling is expecting to fight the decision should be forced to sell his franchise.

It will likely be a long time before the Clippers’ ownership situation settles. Until then, only speculation exsits over who will be owning the Clippers in the future.
