Coming into their matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Lakers dressed only nine players as injuries continued to sideline the roster. During Sunday’s loss to the Clippers, Kent Bazemore left the game after hurting his foot in the second quarter.

According to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters, Bazemore felt fine after the game but will undergo more tests to make sure:

Since joining the Lakers in mid-February, Bazemore gave the Lakers another scoring option in the backcourt. Prior to going down in Sunday’s game, Bazemore was averaging 13.6 points a game. Bazemore’s scoring ability was highlighed while playing in the summer league. However he was stuck in the Golden State depth chart and rarely received any playing time.

With the Lakers suffering through injuries, Bazemore was given the chance to shine with the Lakers. As the Lakers continued to lose bodies, Bazemore handled backup point guard duties. Despite the frustrating season, Bazemore’s play and growth remains one of the bright spots for the Lakers this year.

Provided that his contract expires at the end of the season, Bazemore wants to play in the final five games. Although he will be a free agent, Bazemore expressed his interest to return to the Lakers long-term. Many Lakers voiced similar sentiments with Xavier Henry and Jordan Farmar recently wanting the same. The Lakers will be entering an important off-season. It should be interesting to see which Lakers the front office plans to retain.
