The Sacramento Kings cannot seem to get the Los Angeles Lakers out their heads. With the Lakers selecting Lonzo Ball and the Kings selecting De’Aaron Fox in last month’s NBA Draft the rivalry between the teams seems destined to ignite once again.

The teams played against each other in the Las Vegas Summer League but it was not the matchup fans were hoping to see. Ball did not play in that game as he suffered a minor groin injury the game before. That led fans to taunt Ball about him not wanting to face Fox in a rematch of their Sweet 16 game in last season’s NCAA Tournament.

Even that did not stop the Kings from trolling the Lakers during Summer League play. In a tweet sent out yesterday afternoon, the team asked Lakers fans in Vegas about two rookies on the team that do not exist. As expected these fans responded by wishing their fake rookies the best:

The latest tactic is most likely only the beginning of playful banter between the Lakers and Kings. It is going to be fun watching the two teams battle in the Pacific Division in years to come. Not only have the Lakers gotten better but so have the Kings. After trading away DeMarcus Cousins in the middle of last season, Vlade Divac has seemingly gotten the franchise on the right path through the draft and free agency.

At least for the summer the L.A. got the last laugh as they went on and claimed the Las Vegas Summer League Championship. Even though the competition is entirely different it is always nice to head into next season with some momentum. Also, it is another victory the Lakers can hang over their rivals up North.
