Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Doesn’t Care Who Wins The NBA Finals

kobe and tdLos Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant joined 710 ESPN’s radio show ‘Mason & Ireland’ on Wednesday afternoon.

In that exchange, Kobe spoke on a variety of issues ranging from Dwight Howard status as a Laker, to who his all-time starting lineup would be in NBA history. But perhaps the matter of most concern for Laker fans was the status of Kobe’s achilles, and how long it would be until he gets back on the court.

One interesting topic that Bryant discussed was the NBA Finals and his who he is rooting for. Surprisingly, he said neither team:

“I really don’t care,” Bryant said. “I’d be happy for either one, I have a close relationship with Pop, but it doesn’t really matter with me.”

There is a lot of speculation that a championship for Spurs power forward Tim Duncan would solidify him as the best player of the post 2000s era, so it would be obvious to many that Kobe would root against Duncan, but that is not the case. Kobe acknowledged that he has not watched a lot of the NBA Finals, but he did watch the last three minutes of Game 6 and OT.

While watching the game, Kobe noticed some similarities between he and LeBron James by referencing his Game 7 performance of the NBA Finals in 2010.

Kobe acknowledged that it is tough to repeat as champions, but the most important thing is finding a way to win through times of adversity. Kobe believes that the key for the Heat in Game 7 is getting Dwyane Wade going early.

If they can do that, they’ll be the first NBA team to repeat as champions since the Los Angels Lakers in 2010.
