Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Finishes 5th In NBA MVP Voting

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Portland Trail BlazersWhen the news was announced that LeBron James won Most Valuable Player for the fourth time in the last five seasons, not that many people were surprised. But seeing how the rest of the voting shapes up is always an interesting part of the process. For Lakers fans, that involves seeing where their guy, in this case Kobe Bryant, finished in the voting process.

According to NBA.com, Bryant finished fifth in the voting this season.

Rounding out the top five in voting are Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant (765 points), the New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony, (475 points, one first-place vote), the Los Angeles Clippers’ Chris Paul (289 points), and the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant (184 points).

Despite all the turmoil and struggles the Lakers went through this season, Bryant still finishing in the top five of the MVP voting is a testament to his abilities and performance this season. Even at his advanced age and miles, Kobe was instrumental in carrying a battered Lakers squad into the playoffs.

Of the top five finishers in this season’s MVP voting, Bryant’s Lakers finished with the worst record of the bunch. While this isn’t something Laker fans want to hear, it does go to show just how impressive he was this season.
