Lakers News: Kobe Bryant: “I Love Pau (Gasol) Like a Brother”

There is no question Pau Gasol is struggling trying to adjust to this Mike D’Antoni offense and the front office is not afraid to put him on the trading block if he cannot figure out the system. The Lakers need to get the best out of Gasol, but he is not performing like the All-Star he once was.

Lakers star Kobe Bryant has won two championships with Gasol and he has built a great relationship with him. It is hard for Bryant to see Gasol playing like this and he talked about his strong bond with Gasol to ESPN Los Angeles.

“I love Pau like a brother,” Bryant told ESPNLosAngeles.com on Tuesday. “I really do. I want him to dominate like I know he can.”

“I want him to dig in and be determined, not discouraged,” Bryant continued. “We should go to him more on the post because he can dominate from there as he has to the tune of two rings. I’m sure we will adjust and figure out a balance when he comes back healthy.”

The Lakers have a very formidable frontcourt on paper in Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol, but Gasol has not been carrying his part of the lead. Even though Howard has also be struggling this season, Gasol seems to be lost in the offense.

The Lakers cannot go anywhere this season if Gasol cannot step up and produce for the team.
