Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Talks About New Facilitator Role

nash, howard, kobeKobe Bryant has always been known as a scorer and someone that is more dangerous shooting the ball than dishing it. However, over the past couple of games, Bryant has been the Lakers’ best facilitator.

In the Lakers’ win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Bryant recorded 14 assists to go along with his 21 points. It was the second consecutive game in which Bryant dished out 14 dimes, and to no one’s surprise, the Lakers won both matches.

After the Thunder win, Bryant spoke to USA Today and talked about his role as the Lakers’ play maker.

“It’s trying to evolve and figured out what we need as a ballclub,” Bryant said of his new style. “Instead of me being a finisher, I’m just really facilitating and drawing the defense in and making plays. I game-planned for it, and it seems to be working.”

The Lakers need to find a way to get all of their stars to be productive on the court, but in order to have balance on the offensive end, the players have to sacrifice. Bryant is willing to give up his incredible scoring numbers for the betterment of the team and is not dominating the ball like the used to early in the season.

If Bryant continues to dish the ball like this, the Lakers will be a very dangerous team moving forward. Bryant has the ability to find his teammates for open shots, and when the team needs it, Kobe can score from anywhere on the court with ease.
