Kobe is not the player he was during the early stages of his career, and just like every player this league has seen, Kobe is showing signs of aging. That’s not to say that Bryant is no longer an elite player, but there were just certain things 27-year-old Bryant could do that the current one can’t.
Bryant told Howard Beck that he is willing to change his game as he approaches the latter end of his career. Bryant is ready to adapt to a a different style of play as long as it maximizes his potential and helps the Lakers win games.
“There’s different ways I can go,” Bryant said. “Obviously, the easier of the two would be if I could have the same type of explosiveness that I had last year. It makes my game very easy. But if it’s not there, I’m ready to adapt.”
Luckily, Bryant already has a very good mid-range game and that will come in handy upon his return. Legends always find ways to be effective on the court, and as they begin to age they adapt to a different, more comfortable style of play.
