After rupturing his Achilles on Friday night, Kobe Bryant will be out of the Laker lineup for at least the rest of the regular season. But it seems that that’s all the time Bryant intends on missing.
According to the official Lakers Twitter account, trainer Gary Vitti had this to say about Kobe’s return.
Vitti says its a 6-9 month timetable for @kobebryant’s recovery. Asked if that means he’s back for next season, “that’s the plan.”

If anybody could pull this off, it would be Kobe. His training and conditioning is the best in the league, and he’s fought through many injuries in the past. While none of them have been this severe, Bryant’s work ethic and dedication are second to none.
Bryant will have surgery today and begin the recovery process.
