By now you’ve heard that Kobe Bryant is on the shelf for quite some time with a torn Achilles tendon, and that it’s up to the rest of the Lakers to see how far they can carry the team for what’s left of this season. The “other guys” got off to a good start on Sunday night, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 91-86 at Staples Center.

After the game, Bryant took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the game, particularly how Dwight Howard performed.
D12 was a beast. He stopped by the hospital twice yesterday to check on big brothat’s luv #countond12

I’m not exactly sure what constitutes as beast-like play, but Howard’s numbers against the Spurs were pretty impressive. The big man scored 26 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, leading the Lakers to the win and reducing their postseason magic number to just one.
Howard will try to lead the Lakers to a win in their final regular season game Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets.
