But for Bryant, that isn’t enough. Bryant doesn’t want his legacy to end at the basketball court. He wants it to extend to everybody in all walks of life, as he told a Manila Crowd while on his tour with Lenovo:
For me it’s bigger than playing basketball. Basketball is gonna be over one day. And when leave the game I wanna feel like I’ve left an imprint, or left a mark enough, where people, and not only basketball players, but lawyers, doctors or whatever the case may be, can have the same type of mentality in what they do, that I’ve had in what I’ve done.
If everybody in America could be like Kobe, this country would be number one in the world at everything and all other countries would bow at our feet any time they entered the country.
The mentality Bryant was speaking about was that relentlessness to pursue all goals and not let any obstacle stop you from achieving them. Kobe spoke about making the choice to sacrifice fun things for the sake of working towards your goal.
He also spoke about being a leader and how a leader has to make unpopular decisions, but must be brave enough to make those decisions to bring the best out of people and accomplish the goals you set out to achieve.
Kobe has his motivations and goals he wants to achieve, but the challenge is bringing others to that level and if there is anyone capable of doing it, it is Kobe Bryant.
Hopefully these statements don’t lead to a lawyer doing the signature Kobe Jaw after a successful prosecution.
