Lakers News: Kobe Wins NBA Western Conference Player Of The Month

NBA: Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles LakersKobe Bryant was recognized as the NBA Western Conference Player of the Month on Friday for his performance during the month of February.

During the 28-day month, Bryant averaged 23.9 points, 6.6 assists and 6.7 rebounds in route to helping the Lakers to a 9-4 record. The Lakers began February with a record of 20-26. They will now enter March with a record of 29-30, and are two games out of the 8-seed.

Bryant’s best game in February came on the road against Dallas on February 24th. He scored 38 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out seven assists in leading his team to one of their biggest wins of the season.

During the month Kobe also reached the 40-point mark for the 117th time in his career in a win against Portland. This is the 17th time in Kobe’s career he has won this award.

Miami Heat forward LeBron James was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month.
