The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t take long to fill the void left by the recently waived Jose Calderon. The team has turned their attention to the Los Angeles D-Fenders with guard David Nwaba getting the opportunity to prove his worth on the NBA level.

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, the team will sign Nwaba to a 10-day contract:

The Cal-Poly Obispo product has played 38 games with the Lakers D-League affiliate this season. In 29 minutes per contest, Nwaba averaged 13.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 64.5 percent from the floor.

The addition of the 24-year-old Nwaba comes off a week filled with changes for the Lakers franchise. Along with Magic Johnson becoming the president of basketball operations, the team traded Lou Williams and Marcelo Huertas and acquired Corey Brewer, Tyler Ennis, and a 2017 first-round draft pick in the process.

It remains uncertain at this time whether Nwaba will see the floor during his 10-day stint with the team. Ennis and Brewer have already seen time on the floor with both players showing certain skills which may keep them in the rotation for the rest of way.

On Tuesday, the Lakers will host the Charlotte Hornets at the Staples Center to continue their homestand.
