A day later, the dates have become more clear. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPNLosAngeles.com, the Lakers will debut the new-look jerseys on Christmas Day against the Miami Heat at Staples Center:
The Lakers will wear the white short-sleeve uniforms on Christmas Day and also when the league celebrates “Noche Latina” when the jerseys will be modified to say “Los Lakers,” a source said.
Once it was officially announced the Lakers would be experimenting with the short-sleeved jerseys next season, many fans of the storied franchise weren’t all that happy about the change. Despite the backlash from fans, the team plans to move on with the experiment along with the nine other teams playing on Christmas Day via McMenamin:
According to a league source, adidas has mocked up short-sleeve alternative jerseys for all 10 teams playing on Christmas Day.
Along with the Lakers joining the Golden State Warriors, the other eight teams sporting the short sleeves on Dec. 25 will be the Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs.
