Lakers News: Lonzo Ball Announces Rap Concert Scheduled To Take Place In Lithuania

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

There has always been a stereotype about athletes wanting to be rappers, and rappers wanting to be athletes. It’s an idea Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball hasn’t done anything to dissuade during his relatively brief time in the national spotlight.

Ball has used his burgeoning fame to boost his music career, releasing songs like “Melo Ball 1” and “Super Saiyan,” among others. Although, he hasn’t put on a public concert or gone on tour just yet due to the Lakers being in the middle of their season.

But that will change this summer. While his father, LaVar Ball, presented at the Lithuanian Music Awards “M.A.M.A,” Lonzo announced in a pre-recorded message that he will be going to the country where his brothers LaMelo and LiAngelo are playing professionally to perform his first ever concert this summer:

“Congratulations on your guys’ event. Wish I could be there with you guys and my family, but I’ll be there in the summer for my concert. My first one ever is going to be in Lithuania for you guys only.”

Despite his current injury not allowing him to play in games, Lonzo was never going to be able to do something like this in the middle of the season while the Lakers were playing, but it makes sense that he would make having a concert an offseason goal.

The concert will (seemingly) only further boost the Big Baller Brand in Lituania, where LaVar and Lonzo’s two brothers seem to be quickly becoming fan-favorite imports due as much to their antics as their play on the basketball court.

Plus, it’s never too early for Lonzo to start currying favor for next year’s M.A.M.A.’s by performing debut concerts in the host country of the awards show. He might not win Rookie of the Year, but he may not leave 2018 without some hardware.
