The Los Angeles Lakers are currently finalizing their roster for the upcoming NBA regular season with two more players needing to be cut to get down to the maximum of 15.

Although many questioned whether Marcelo Huertas would be on the final roster before he was able to get on the floor, it seems as though he’s done enough to convince head coach Byron Scott.

According to ESPN’s Baxter Holmes, Coach Scott has let it be known that Huertas will more than likely be on the final 15-man roster:

Huertas had dealt with a few issues before he was able to make his preseason debut with the Lakers. The Brazilian point guard had an immigration problem that needed immediate attention in Vancouver, Canada while also dealing with a hamstring injury.

Fortunately, after Huertas made his debut for the team, everyone knew why the coaching staff and his teammates spoke so highly of him. Huertas made quite an impression once finally on the basketball floor in purple and gold showing some incredible court vision and veteran leadership at the point guard position.

The real question from here on out will be whether Coach Scott will decide to go with Huertas as his starting floor general or rookie D’Angelo Russell on Oct. 28 in the season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Russell may end up coming off the bench to get the season underway, but Scott has yet to make a decision on who’ll be in the starting lineup next week.
