The Lakers have been busy this offseason as they lost free agent center Dwight Howard to the Rockets and have agreed to terms with Chris Kaman, Nick Young and Jordan Farmar.
However, the team made the toughest decision of the summer when they decided to amnesty forward Metta World Peace in order to save about $15 million in luxury tax.
At 5 p.m. this afternoon, World Peace will be placed on waivers and teams with the most amount cap space can claim him or he’d become a free agent.
According to Shahan Ahmed of NBCLA, World Peace has different ideas after being let go by the Lakers:
Metta World Peace just told @mcten and I that he has no desire to play in the NBA next season. Not for Knick, Nets, Clippers..no one #Lakers

Metta said his top desires are playing in China, working with a team as a player development coach, and playing arena football. #Lakers

After finding out about the decision, World Peace took to Twitter and joked about playing hockey and baseball as well as playing for Yao Ming’s team in China.
World Peace is always full of jokes and tricking people, but it sounds like he isn’t interested in playing in the NBA, but rather exploring other endeavors.
