Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni has been named Western Conference Coach of the Month for April. Wait, what? After dealing with questions and angry fans for nearly his entire time in Los Angeles this season, D’Antoni has been given the award after leading the Lakers to a 7-1 record in April, with the lone loss coming to the Los Angeles Clippers.

According to the official NBA Twitter account, D’Antoni was given the award for the Western Conference while Mike Woodson of the New York Knicks won for the Eastern Conference.

After a season that was about as up-and-down as it could possibly be, D’Antoni is ending things on a high note. This will certainly be more memorable for D’Antoni than the night he was forced to hear fans in his own building chanting ‘We Want Phil’ during a game.

This is the second piece of good news D’Antoni has received this week, as team general manager Mitch Kupchak stated D’Antoni will be back next season.
