This Lakers team has been destroyed by injuries to almost every key player, and now they may have another issue as leading scorer Nick Young has apparently injured his back, according to the LA Daily News’ Mark Medina:

Young had one of his worst games as a Laker tonight in the loss to the Mavericks, as he totaled only two points and three rebounds in 19 minutes. Young is averaging almost 17 points in nearly 30 minutes this season.

The Lakers have now lost eight of their last nine games, and Young has been one of their few bright spots this season. His scoring ability, along with his energy has kept the team in positive spirits despite the tough times the Lakers have experienced this season.

Despite his back issues, he is still expected to play tomorrow night in Houston, according to Medina:

Even if this ends up being a minor injury, having Young miss any time will be a tough loss as the Lakers have very few players who can create their own shot.

*Update: Young’s injury was initially sustained against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, according to Mark Medina of the LA Daily News.
