The Los Angeles Lakers are currently riding a three-game winning streak heading into Sunday’s matchup against the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder. Unfortunately, the team will continue to be without arguably their best player off the bench.

According to the Lakers’ Twitter account, head coach Byron Scott said Nick Young will miss Sunday’s game against the Thunder:

Young has missed the last two games due to swelling in his left knee. The Lakers have won both games against the Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks without their best scorer leading the second unit.

Although Young is currently leading the team in scoring at 13.4 points per game, the sixth man has struggled after a breakout season last year. Young is shooting a career-low 36.6 percent from the floor and has been very inconsistent in his second season with the Lakers.

Fortunately, even without their best scorer on the floor for the past two games, the Lakers are on a roll with rookie Jordan Clarkson helping lead the shorthanded squad.

Clarkson has helped shoulder the scoring load with a career-high 22 points against the Jazz and 16 points in the win over the Bucks. Wayne Ellington has also chipped in with a combined 29 points over the last two games.
