The 2013-14 NBA season has officially come to an end for the Los Angeles Lakers and Nick Young may have played his last game for the storied franchise. Young will more than likely opt-out of his contract with the Lakers this summer in an attempt to sign a lucrative long-term deal.

Although it is not set in stone that Young will head elsewhere in free agency, the veteran guard did express some frustration in terms of not being able to help lead the Lakers into the playoffs.

Young is a Los Angeles native and was hoping to be playoff bound in his hometown as he made clear in his postgame interview on TWC SportsNet:

“It’s frustrating. I wanted to come back home and get a taste of the playoffs and do what whole Lakers family do. It didn’t happen.”

Currently, Young is set to make $1.2 million next season with the Lakers, but has a player option and all signs point to him opting out.

With Young showing that he’s still capable of being a force offensively off the bench, there’s a good chance teams around the league have taken notice. Lucrative offers will almost certainly be thrown Young’s way as he looks to secure his long-term future.

As of right now, there’s been no indication that the Lakers are willing to offer him the kind of lucrative deal that he’ll be looking for in free agency. It’d be safe to assume he will receive an offer from the Lakers, but there’s no guarantee it’ll be the desired amount of years and compensation.
