Lakers News: No Clear Timetable on Steve Blake’s Return

SteveBlakeThe Los Angeles Lakers have been without Steve Blake for a few months and they still don’t have a clear timetable for his return.

Blake had corrective surgery in early December for his abdominal tear, but his rehab process has become complicated as he is dealing with pain in his groin. The OC Register reports that Blake will have a cortisone injection in his groin to help fix the issue.

Steve Blake will receive a cortisone injection in his groin to alleviate pain that began after tearing his abdominal muscle.

“We don’t have a timetable, but we’ll be re-evaluated in a week and we’ll see,” Mike D’Antoni said. “Hopefully, for his sake and ours that he’ll be back soon.”

The Lakers need Blake on the court as soon as possible as he will give them a reliable point guard to use with the second unit. In addition, Blake will allow Steve Nash to get some extra minutes on the bench, something that is needed in this tough NBA season.

Blake has appeared in seven games this season and has averaged 5.1 points and 3.4 assists per game.
