Lakers News: Rapper The Game Excited To See Nick Young Back Home

la-sp-ln-nick-young-gives-sneakers-off-feet-20-001The Lakers have one of the biggest followings among celebrities in professional sports. Actors like Jack Nicholson and Denzel Washington are amongst the regulars at Staples Center for Lakers games. The list extends beyond actors, however, as rapper The Game is a huge Lakers fan.

In an interview with Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, The Game talked Nick Young, who is from Los Angeles, The Game’s back yard.

“I just love Los Angeles kids that play for the whole team,” Game said. “I’m happy that Nick is playing for Los Angeles for a team he grew up watching.”

The Game is frequently seen in the community playing and coaching in the Drew League, a league that Young also plays in during the summers.

The Drew League is one of the myriad Summer ProAm leagues that NBA players frequent, but it’s one of the more famous leagues as it’s sponsored by Nike and just celebrated its 30th anniversary.

The Game knows that the expectations have lowered for this year’s Lakers team, but still remains confident in the Lakers and will continue to root for them even through the hard times.

“We’re the the best team in the NBA. It’s been that way since the NBA was started. We have a lot of banners and a lot of good players have been through Los Angeles.”

“I just got faith in my team. It’s just how it goes. It’s like those guys who are fans of teams that never win. They never stop and they’re there at every game. It’s Los Angeles. If I don’t put on for my city, who will?”

The Game also says that he expects to see Kobe Bryant back for the home opener against the Clippers and didn’t have the kindest of words for former Laker Dwight Howard.
