Rookie point guard Lonzo Ball has played brilliantly during the five games he’s been on the court for the Los Angeles Lakers during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The UCLA product has thus far lived up to the hype and has his team in contention to win it all in Summer League, but there has been a bit of controversy brewing regarding the shoes he’s been wearing.

Ball is part of his family’s Big Baller Brand which was put together by his father, LaVar. The main reason Lonzo has received some much media attention has been due to his controversial brand, his father’s marketing tactics, and the high price ($495) of his signature shoe, ZO2. During Summer League, Ball has worn his shoe a few times but has also worn signature shoes of Kobe Bryant, James Harden, and now Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

In the win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night, Ball was wearing Under Armour Curry 4. Apparently, Curry sent these shoes to Lonzo after the Lakers rookie asked for a pair, according to Nightwing2303 of WearTesters.com via B/R Kicks:

With Ball trying out all of these shoes from Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and of course the Big Baller Brand during Summer League, it has made some wonder whether he’s open to signing a deal with one of those companies. Ball’s star power is growing with every passing game and has certainly become a more attractive acquisition for these shoe companies, but whether a deal is made is anyone’s guess.

LaVar was recently asked about whether his son will make a shoe deal and seems open to the prospect if they meet their asking price. Although Ball has arguably already become a star in the NBA, these companies may still not be willing to bend to demands of the Ball family.
